Email requests for game solutions help (i.e. "where is the red ring?")
will be ignored.

However BUG REPORTS are very strongly encouraged!

BUGS are despised and I work very hard to avoid them.
Hopefully I have lived up to my standards.

Also, if you are a helpful bug-reporter, you'll find that I might
answer your game solutions questions, too! :)

*** ABOUT THIS QUEST ***

This is a finished custom Zelda Classic quest. It even has a surprise ending! (sort of!)

It was first created and designed in Zelda Classic 1.92, Beta 163.
Then it was completed in Zelda Classic 1.92, Beta 183, which screwed it up.
Then it was debugged and modified in Zelda Classic 2.10, which made it better. Hooray!!

You will need the Zelda Classic 2.10 player to play this quest.
By no means do I use all of the 2.10 features, but it's pretty nice anyway.

Cheats have been disabled and the quest is password-protected.
I will not be giving out the password.
(Do not worry, it is likely that you will only be stuck at
the unfinished part, Level 8)

There is a large overworld, a small "warp" overworld, a mini-dungeon,
and a large dungeon. The large dungeon contains Levels 1-8 and all
the Triforce pieces.

Most of the items are in the game, however the Gold Ring and
Lens of Truth are not in yet. I think everything else is in it somewhere.

This is BY FAR my most challenging quest. I'd classify it as at least as
difficult as "The Longest Journey" when it comes to fighting and you have
to do a lot more independent exploring than you did in my BS-Zelda quests.
In other words, this time you're kind of "on your own" to find the secrets!!

*** SPECIAL THANKS ***

The tile-set is the common "cartoony" one used in a lot of quests. I built
this one out of Mr Z's "Triforce of Seasons" quest after adding in many of
my own custom tiles to that set. While I did not use anything that was his
in my quest, examining his quest was invaluable in helping me get mine set
up, and I am thankful that it was unpassworded so that I could learn some
new things in ZC.

*** HINTS ***

YES ... you really only do start this game with TWO HEARTS!! And you do indeed
have to get through Level 1 that way... but I never said it was an easy quest!! :)

To start, explore the Castle (where you start) to find a sword, get some money,
and maybe buy some items.

Do not attempt Level 2 without the Magic Shield... just shell out the $160 for it.
There ARE magic shields in the dungeon but it's VERY hard to get to them with just
a small shield starting from the Dungeon entrance, they're in there mostly as
replacements in case you are overrun by Like Likes.

Similarly, if you find the wallet on the first floor, you may want to buy the White
Sword for $300. There is a White Sword on Level 2 but you need five hearts, and you'll
only have 4 and 2 HCP after finishing Level 2. There are lots of treasure chests with
money on the first few floors that make accumulating money to buy weapons a lot easier.

You have to play the dungeons first before you can get far in the Overworld.
This is intentional! The overworld has a TON of hearts... but you need different
items to get them. So, you will have to go back and forth from the dungeon to the
overworld quite a bit.

Items tend to appear twice in the game. For example, you can buy the wooden
boomerang in the shop in the Castle, but you can pick it up in the Dungeons.
Similarly, the Blue Ring and Red Ring are each available in two different
floors of the dungeon, as well as in some Overworld shops. The first place
to find an item is usually difficult to find but the second one is usually
very easy.

If I recall correctly, you can have the White Sword before beginning
Level 3 (might be 4) and the Magic Sword before beginning Level 5 (or maybe 6),
but it's not easy. Actually I think when you find the Magic Sword you have to go
down one more level to get the HC and then come BACK for it. You DEFINITELY have
to do this to get the Master Sword, which is somewhere on Level 7 (there may be
a place to get it on Level 8 as well but that place may be buggy).

There is a heart container at each boss, and one HC Piece on each
floor of the Dungeon. That's 10 hearts. You start with 2. There are also
an additional 12 hearts in the Overworld.

The "elevator" from Wizardry I is the snowy overworld. But you have to find
the entrances to the various floors...

The "Monster Allocation Center" makes an appearance, and it's even worse than
it was in Wizardry I. Bring lots of hearts... and potions! Also, if you leave
the Monster Allocation Center and come back, ALL the monsters will re-appear
and that IS intentional, and not a bug!!

*** KNOWN BUGS ***

Most of Level 7 and parts of Level 3 are on a Cave Dmap. There is a glitch when
you continue in Level 7 if you came in from the Snow Overworld entrance and you
die and get to a Dungeon part of that map... it thinks you are in a Dungeon.
Go out and come back in to fix it. This can happen on Level 3, too, but it'll
appear as a graphical glitch with Link walking over a door until he hits a warp
trigger that fixes it. It's just ugly looking in level 3 but it's a REAL pain in
Level 7 ... so watch out for that.

The end of Level 7 can be a bit buggy too. I took out some Wind Wizzrobes who were
causing a similar problem if you came in the secondary entrance to Level 7. Also
there is a screen where you WILL get shot by Gohma when you come on to it in Level
7... that's actually not a bug. It's by design: to make your job harder. Hee hee hee.

Everything else should work fine, as far as I know. Sometimes the music gets stuck
but I think that's my 2.10 player with XP... not my quest. If your music loops, you need
to save and restart.

*** MUSIC INFORMATION ***

I don't know where the MIDIs came from. I also don't care.
